This past May, MUSHROOMS SOLUTIONS was at the MUSHROOMS DAYS in Brabanthallen`s Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands, where the 35th edition of the MUSHROOMS DAYS was held from May 22nd to 24th.

This event is an excellent opportunity for the cultivated mushroom sector to get to know each other, for the exchange the experiences and to keep up to date with the latest developments in the sector.

MUSHROOMS SOLUTIONS was present supporting UNICORN BAGS, the world's best manufacturer of filter bags due for its advanced technology and high degree of innovation.

In these Mushrooms Days, UNICORN presented some of its most recent novelties such as the development of its BIODEGRADABLE BAGS (about which we will talk in more detail in another blog post). It is the first manufacturer of filter bags for the spawn mushroom production, sterile substrates for the mushrooms cultivation and the production of biocontrol organisms for biological control, which has launched BIODEGRADABLE BAGS onto the market.

Our biodegradable bags use an additive that allows them to degrade by breaking down their chemical structure. Oxidation through heat or ultraviolet light leads to this degradation. Thus, our bags are oxo-biodegradable.

“Oxo-biodegradable plastics are designed to biodegrade in ANY environment.  It can’t be guaranteed where a customer will dispose of waste, therefore we have a technology that is an insurance policy on covering any environment it goes to.  That includes, municipal waste, recycling centers, or even litter (accidental or otherwise).

The final result of this biodegradation is CO2, water and humus, more or less what remains after they grow their mushrooms. There are no microplastics left.

UNICORN also introduced a machine that allows automatic opening of the bags: THE OPENER BAGS, and can be adapted to any existing filling system. It is a simple and very effective system that can greatly facilitate the filling of bags when they have to open and fill a significant amount of bags.
